Your AI receptionist, connected to everything.

Every call your AI receptionist takes can trigger your other apps — Zapier, Make, n8n, your booking system, your CRM — with signed JSON events and a simple REST API. No code needed for Zapier; full docs for developers.

AI receptionist API sending call events to Zapier, a CRM and a booking system

What is the AI Receptionist API?

The AI Receptionist API lets other software work with your phone line in both directions. When the AI answers a call, takes a message, texts the caller, or finishes a call, Talki Talki sends a signed JSON event to the endpoint you choose — a Zapier Catch Hook, your booking system, your CRM. And any app can give the receptionist tools to use during the call — check availability, book an appointment, reserve a table, place an order — through a documented, signed contract. A REST API lets apps read past calls and manage it all.

Built to plug in

Everything a developer or a Zapier user expects — and nothing is sent until you turn it on.

Zapier & Make in minutes

Paste a Catch Hook URL, pick your events, send a test — then route calls into Sheets, Slack, HubSpot, calendars, anything.

The events that matter

Call started, message taken, text sent, call completed — with name, number, request, outcome, and the caller's language.

Signed & replay-safe

Every request is HTTPS, signed with a per-endpoint secret and timestamped. Retried automatically if your server is down.

Privacy payload modes

Choose minimal (ids and timing only, caller number masked), standard, or full — so clinics and firms can integrate without over-sharing.

REST API + OpenAPI

List and read calls, erase a call on request, manage endpoints — with scoped API keys and a machine-readable spec.

Books, reserves, orders — via your app

Register tools and the receptionist checks availability, books the slot, reserves the table or places the order in your system, live on the call.

Tools during the call

Let the receptionist book, reserve, and order — through your app.

Your booking system, reservation book, or ordering platform gives the receptionist tools to use mid-call — check availability, book the slot, place the order — documented, signed, confirmed with the caller first, and fully under your control.

Connect an app in 3 steps

1

Add an endpoint

Dashboard → Developer → AI Receptionist Events. Paste your URL and choose which events to send.

2

Copy the secret

Shown once — your app uses it to verify every event is really from Talki Talki.

3

Send a test event

One click sends a realistic sample so you can build your Zap or handler before the first real call.

AI receptionist integrations — FAQ

Does the AI receptionist work with Zapier?

Yes. Use Zapier's 'Webhooks by Zapier → Catch Hook' trigger, paste the hook URL into Talki Talki, send a test event, and map the fields. Make, n8n and any tool with an incoming-webhook URL work the same way — no code required.

What information is sent?

It depends on the payload mode you choose. Minimal sends only ids, timing and outcome counts with the caller's number masked; standard adds the messages the AI took and outcomes; full adds the transcript and the texts sent. Nothing is sent until you add an endpoint.

Is it suitable for clinics, law firms or other privacy-sensitive businesses?

It's designed for them: minimal mode keeps names, free text and full phone numbers out of what leaves Talki Talki, every request is signed and encrypted in transit, access is audited, and any call can be erased on request. Businesses under HIPAA still need their own compliance agreements in place — the API is built not to be the obstacle.

Do I need to be a developer?

Not for Zapier or Make. For custom apps, the docs include the event payloads, a signature-verification snippet and a REST reference, plus a machine-readable OpenAPI file.

Can it book appointments into my booking system?

Yes. Your booking system registers tools — for example 'get available slots' and 'book appointment' — with a small HTTPS endpoint each. During the call the receptionist checks availability, offers times, reads the details back, and books in your system. The same works for restaurant reservations and food orders.

Where do I get an API key?

Dashboard → Developer. Keys are per account, can be scoped to read-only or manage, and can be revoked at any time.
